Bio
Dr. Vikas Pathe, an accomplished academic and researcher, holds a Ph.D. from the Centre for Studies in Society and Development, Central University of Gujarat, Gandhinagar. His doctoral journey culminated in December 2019 with a thesis titled Narratives of Labour in Indian Cinema: A Critical Reading of Post-Colonial Hindi Cinema, where he meticulously delved into the nuanced portrayal of labor in Indian cinema.
Adding to his academic accolades, He completed his M.Phil. degree from the same esteemed institution in July 2015. His research focus on Development Communication of National Planning: A Case Study of Bhilai Steel Plant and exemplified his commitment to exploring the intricacies of communication and development.
Presently, He serves as Program Director in the Department of Media and Communication at MIT WPU, where he has been a valuable member since April 2021. Prior to this, he enriched the academic landscape as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Journalism and Communication at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat, from November 2017 to February 2021.
His scholarly pursuits span Communication Theory, Development and Communication, Sociology of Media, Hindi Cinema, and Media and Politics. His research contributions have been showcased at prestigious national and international conferences, illuminating key discussions in his areas of expertise. Furthermore, his published research papers, book reviews, and book chapters have found recognition in internationally recognized Q1 and Q2 research journals.
In his ongoing commitment to education, he is currently crafting a course framework for Media Literacy and Pedagogy ; within a PG Diploma Programme on Child Rights and Media, in collaboration with the Central University of Kashmir and Child Rights and You. This initiative underscores his dedication to fostering critical thinking and knowledge dissemination in the realm of media studies.
