Bio
Dr. Samarth D. Patwardhan is a distinguished academician and accomplished researcher, currently serving as the Head of Centre for Subsea Engineering Research, Professor in the School of Petroleum Engineering, and Member, Board of Management at MIT-WPU, Pune, India. With extensive expertise in petroleum engineering, he has also been appointed as a Member on the Enhanced Recovery Committee (ERC), formed under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Government of India (GoI). Dr. Patwardhan is a Director on the SPE International Mumbai Section board, and Faculty Advisor to the MITWPU – SPE Student Chapter, where he guides and nurtures young talent. Additionally, he is a Member on the Energy4Me committee formed for South Asia, under SPE International. His research interests span a wide range of topics in petroleum engineering, including enhanced oil recovery, reservoir engineering, subsea engineering, and drilling engineering, and he has numerous publications to his credit in prestigious journals and conferences.
Research Areas
His research interests include production and reservoir engineering, enhanced oil recovery, HSE, as well as applying data analytics to the oil and gas domain. Through research grants he has procured, he has been instrumental in revamping the reservoir characterization laboratory, as well as upgrading the simulation lab with industry-benchmarked software tools. His current efforts are directed towards setting up of a state-of-the-art research lab for testing various characteristics of Nano-dusts, which span across industries. This lab is being funded jointly by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India (GoI), and Techniche Engineering Private Limited (TEPL), an HSE company based out of Pune, India.
