Bio

Dr. Sagar Kanekar is an experienced academician and researcher with a background in Microbiology and Bioengineering. He holds an M. Sc. in Microbiology from Savitribai Phule Pune University and a Ph. D in Microbiology done at Agharkar Research Institute, Pune under Savitribai Phule Pune University. With over 2 years of academic experience and 7 years of industrial experience, he teaches courses such as Microbiology and Microbial Techniques, Introduction to Cell and Molecular biology, Biocatalytic Processes, Bioanalytical techniques at the undergraduate level. and helping M. Tech student for project on ‘Haloarchaeal biopolymer extraction using hydrodynamic cavitation.’ Dr. Kanekar's previous research work focused on the biodiversity and biotechnological exploration of halophiles from Andaman Islands and Lonar Lake. His present research interests include industrial exploration of haloarchaea for novel biomolecules like biopolymer, carotenoid, bacteriorhodopsin, exopolysaccharide, glycine betaine, gas vesicles.
